2007/03/16 LA SALLE COLLEGE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE SUPERVISOR Appointment of the New Principal The Supervisor and the School Management Committee of La Salle College are pleased to announce the appointment of MR. WONG YEN KIT as the new principal of the College with immediate effect. Mr. Wong currently holds the rank of Vice Principal and has been Acting Principal of La Salle since 1st July 2006. In 1973 he graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese and in 1978 he was conferred with the degree of Master of Philosophy in Chinese Language at the same university. The following year he completed his Certificate of Education at the Chinese University. Mr. Wong joined La Salle College in November 1976 as a teacher of Chinese Language and Chinese History. In 1987 he was promoted to the post of Panel Head of Chinese and, at various times, was in charge of senior and junior panels as well as of Chinese history. In 2004, he was promoted to the post of Academic Vice Principal and has taken special responsibility for the implementation of the New Senior Secondary reforms. For many years, Mr Wong has been co-editor of the College annual magazine "The Lasallite" and promoted student writing by compiling and publishing anthologies. He has been very actively involved with the Speech Teams and achieved notable successes in the Hong Kong Speech Festival over the years. He initiated the writing and publication of school based Chinese textbooks to meet the demands of the new syllabus. This work is currently been funded by a large grant from the Quality Education Fund. Mr Wong is married to Tracy and they have two sons who are currently students at La Salle College. On behalf of the Hong Kong Lasallian Family, I wish to congratulate Mr Wong on his appointment as Principal in the 75the Anniversary year of the College. We assure him of our full support and prayers as he prepares to lead La Salle in these challenging times. Bro. Thomas Lavin
